In the thick of summertime, we’ve put together a great list of five fun happenings for Bay Area kids and their nannies!

  1. Pixie Land is an amusement park located in Concord, CA, great for little kids, especially toddlers. The outdoor park has seven rides, including a little roller coaster, carousel, tea cups and more! Tickets start at $2.50 and there are special packages if you buy 10 or more; the cost for each ride ranges between 1 to 2 tickets, and the height requirement for most rides is 36”. Specific height requirements and ticket pricing details can be found here. Usually the park is open Friday to Sunday, but during July they are open on Monday from 10:00 AM to 2:00PM!
  1. Unique Derique is a Bay Area native that performs as a clown, and does comedy for kids (and nannies, parents and anyone who loves pure silliness) through music. He will be performing at the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival in San Francisco, CA on Friday, July 22nd at 11:00 AM, and a repeat show at 12:15 PM. The 30 minute presentation is free, and more information can be found on the official event website.
  1. Slime Workshop: Nannies! It’s just about time for ooey gooey fun at the Novato, CA library! On Thursday July 14th at 10:30 AM, GoGo Craft will host a Slime Workshop for kids 5 and up. Kids will create their own slime with a variety of ingredients and add-ins. There is no cost to attend the workshop, but registration is necessary. You can find more details and book your spot at the Marin County Library website.
  1. The Town Hall Theater in Lafayette, CA is Contra Costa county’s oldest active theater company! Besides the performances, the theater brings music and education to the community through Town Hall Education Summer Camp – a program that teaches musical and theatrical skills to kids. This class with the second through fifth grade children will be performing “Summer Camp: a Musical Caper” on Saturday, July 30th at 3 PM & 6 PM. The play brings to life all the good and not so good things that happen during camp, from bugs and campers’ morning routines to talent shows. Your little ones will love seeing other kids performing on stage! Tickets start at $10 and can be purchased at this link.
  1. If you are looking for a perfect swimming spot, the Don Castro Lagoon Regional Recreation Area in Hayward, CA is the place to go this summer! There is shallow water for toddlers, and a deep end for confident swimmers. Fees start at $2 per child, and dogs are welcome too, for a pet fee of $2. Swim hours and exact fees can be found here. The facility has a bathhouse with shower, umbrellas, life vests and puddle jumpers available for rental, and a grassy picnic area with tables and shade. It is a great spot for a fun summer day with your nanny charges!
