Diversity, educational opportunities, and thriving communities are at the heart of East Bay family values. Alameda and Contra Costa Counties are full of awesome family-friendly events and adventures that highlight these values.

This month, our team has drawn up a list of our favorite places in Contra Costa County for families. We hope you, the members of the Nannies Plus community, enjoy these special spots just as much as we do!

1. I Heart Art in Pleasant Hill

Where: 15 Vivian Dr, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523

Link: https://www.iheartartstudio.co/art-club-1

Why We Love It: I Heart Art has filled a need for indoor, open studio spaces for children in Contra Costa County. They provide activities that are developmentally appropriate for children of all ages. Whether you’re looking to spend a fun afternoon with your toddler, send your big kid off to a creative camp, or host a birthday party, this is the place to go!

2. Baby Boot Camp in Lafayette

Where: Various Locations

Why We Love It: The postpartum period is a time that the body requires rest. Of course, this rest is beneficial to the body after giving birth, but it can make one feel restless! If you’re ready to be active and exercise alongside your baby and other new parents, Baby Boot Camp is for you!

3. Monument First 5 Center in Concord

Where: 1736 Clayton Road, Concord 94520

Link: http://www.first5coco.org/funded-programs/first-5-centers/

Why We Love It: It truly takes a village to raise a child. New parents gain confidence and a sense of identity when they’re part of an inspiring community. First 5 Centers foster community by offering playgroups, and free parenting classes! Curious about infant massage, child development, resources for families, or how to socialize your toddler? This is the place to go to keep grown ups and little ones entertained!

4. Osage Station Park in Danville

Where: 816 Brookside Dr Danville, CA 94526

Link: https://www.danville.ca.gov/620/Osage-Station-Park

Why We Love It: Hours of good, old fashioned fun for the whole family team! If you’re stuck at work, your nanny can take the kids to this incredible, sprawling park nestled in the heart of Danville. Osage Station is a 35 acre park with tennis courts, soccer fields, and a path for a nice stroll. Your kids will love stopping to smell the flowers in the rose garden, and they’ll go “wild” for the old Western themed play structure.

5. Bel and Bunna’s Books in Lafayette

Where: 3581c Mt Diablo Blvd, Lafayette, CA 94549

Link: https://belandbunnasbooks.com/

Why We Love It: Bel and Bunna’s is more than a literary wonderland for children; it’s a bookstore turned community space! What makes Bel and Bunna’s so special is their desire to foster a love of books in kiddos, which is evident in the events they host. They offer free storytimes, Harry Potter themed book clubs, and affordable birthday parties! Not to mention, the space is bright, inviting, and the selection of books is thoughtfully curated. East Bay kids are so lucky to have access to this gem!
