1. Last Fridays Outdoors Movie Night @ Pier 39, San Francisco

Grab your blankets and head to Pier 39, SF for outdoor Movie Night this upcoming Friday! This week the Pier is screening “Big Hero 6”, a PG rated family-friendly film that parents can enjoy alongside their children. Get inspired by the film, as the story center’s around a child prodigy Hiro Hamada and his amazing robot creation Baymax as they go on adventures with a new group of friends, saving the day in the high-tech city of San Fransokyo.

Before the show, get a bite to eat at one of Pier 39’s restaurants, or take advantage of special giveaways and Movie Night discounts at participating businesses. At sundown, settle in for a free screening of one of our favorite films.

Check out the Treasure Island Flea and find some hidden gems. Stake your claim on the bountiful knick knacks and treasures for sale. An affordable $3 fee (and kids 12 and under are free!) gives you access to over 400 local vendors of all kinds: artists, makers, designers, antique/vintage collectors, food trucks and more. Your kids will love the kid-zone with games and activities for all ages, plus there’s adult fun too, hop to one of the bars and savor seasonal cocktails, local wines, and brews!

  1. Free Admission Day @ Habitot Children’s Museum, Berkeley

Free museum day? Heck yes! (thanks to sponsors at Mechanics Bank) Join in the fun this Saturday in celebrating nineteen years of Habitot. In the art studio, children can paint a giant anniversary cake with sparklers and glitter. Plus your kids can practice stop, drop and roll and play fireman at the newly refurbished fire house and fire truck exhibit, debuting this weekend!

4. Story Time @ Small Talk Family Cafe, Walnut Creek

Head to Small Talk Family Cafe for a midday story time. Often accompanied by songs and crafts, Lauren Raymundo makes it a fun, interactive experience to remember. Stay and play in Small Talk’s interactive toy area. Bring your laptop if you want to be productive over coffee while your child is absorbed in imaginative play.

  1. Music with Little Folkies (Drop-in) @ Sprout, Mill Valley

Sprout is a new kind of retail store, where items are hand-picked to be the safest and healthiest products for children. Not only does the store sell health and safety conscious goods, it serves as a safe play space and expansive community space. The store offers a variety of classes and activities, and this Friday you and your family can drop in to be a part of it all. Don’t miss your chance to try out a “Little Folkies” class, an on-going series of interactive lessons where parents and children ages 0-5 can enjoy unique folk music songs, dancing, and singing together!
