Open your eyes to the wonders of nature through the program “Nature for Kids.”

Nature for Kids @ Mount Burdell, Novato

Marin County has bountiful parks and outdoor spaces to explore! You and your family will have an outdoor adventure walking through Mount Burdell, led by a naturalist offered by Marin County Parks. On this hike, the pond you’ll visit is called “Hidden Lake” because it dries up and disappears every year after the rain season. You’ll get to see the newts, frogs, and insects up close that gather at the pond during the wet season. Don’t miss your chance to experience this ephemeral waterhole before it disappears.

Have fun in the neighborhood in Hayes Valley!

Explore Hayes Valley, San Francisco

Head to Hayes Valley this weekend for park play, unique boutiques, artisanal cafes, and scrumptious sweets.

Start off at Patricia’s Green, a park with a children’s playground to climb, and large-scale, public artwork that will amaze and inspire! Have breakfast or brunch at Arlequin Cafe, a special spot with a lovely courtyard and garden seating area, that serves up fresh sandwiches, salads, espresso, and pastries.

When you’ve finished your meal, stroll around Hayes Street and explore the numerous small, independent shops. We recommend “Cotton Sheep,” a local, curated clothings tore that provides unique fashion for men, women, children, and babies.

Cap the day off with a sweet treat from Smitten Ice Cream! This ice cream parlor is one-of-a-kind with its science-based approach to creating the perfect scoop! Every scoop of ice cream is made fresh-to-order from their patented liquid nitrogen machines. Kids love watching their ice cream being churned and the resulting natural liquid nitrogen fog! Best of all, the ice cream is so delicious! It’s much thicker and richer than any other!
